What happened to Washington Mutual Federal Savings Bank (FSB) (WaMu)?

JPMorgan Chase announced on September 25, 2008 that it acquired all deposits, assets and certain liabilities of Washington Mutual’s banking operations from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), effective immediately. The purchase of WAMU's assets by JPMorgan Chase was designed to be seamless to existing WAMU customers. Additional information about the transaction can be found at www.chase.com
